About Sierra Del Sol

The title to our business, Sierra Del Sol Enterprises, is a contraction of our family surnames. My wife's first name, Araceli is a Spanish contraction of altar and cielo or altar of heaven, came from a background of Spanish and Mexican Indian heritage. Her mother Lugardia was half Tarasco and her father was a Spaniard whose family migrated to Mexico during the 1930's when Spain was in a revolution with communists and Franco's royalists. Araceli's father's last name was De La Sierra or of the mountain. Ricardo's mother's side of the family came from the small Central American country of El Salvador. My ancestors came to the Americas in the 1500's and were originally dukes, counts and vice counts. Our original family last name was Del Sol for "of the Sun" but they dropped the Del when the American revolutions began in the 1700's. When we first started our home based business in the early 1990's we put the two family names together and got Sierra Del Sol Enterprises, or Mountain of the Sun (sunny mountain for short).

Early on in our marriage we desired to start a home based business. We studied different opportunities and our first attempt was with vending machines. We continue to maintain a small vending machine route with mostly bulk vending machines. When we started the route I came up with idea to make a web page for purpose of finding new locations in San Diego County. The overwhelming response was requests on where and how to buy vending machines. The vending machine dealers we started with were very dishonest and misrepresented the vending machine opportunities with overpriced machines and tall tales of super high profit margins.

In response to the requests for how to buy machines and the dishonest dealership I wrote a booklet on how to start a vending machine route. I wrote an honest overview of the business using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP. The booklet included over 300 entries of factories, dealers, services and suppliers on a global basis. This was our first commercial success as we sold hundreds of copies of the book all over the world and acquired the rights to sell vending machines for several factories. We also started an upscale line of high quality wood stands for bulk vending machines.

During this period of developing the vending machine business I worked as a Controller at the Belly Up Tavern near the old Highway 101. The train tracks ran right behind our offices. Just North of us were two famous woodcarving shops. Just South of us there was a pallet manufacturer and a hardwood dealer. Between the traffic from the highway and the trains on the tracks, the sawdust from all the woodworking companies was always in the air. We had a series of power supplies burn out in our computers.all within a few weeks apart. In each case, the repair shop arrived at the same conclusion. The power supplies were all plugged up with fine particles of saw dust. You could smell the burnt-out sawdust inside the power supplies just like the smell of burnt wood from a saw blade when it jams up in the wood it is cutting.

This experience inspired me to start my next Internet offering. I filed for a patent and came up with a universal cut and paste air filtration system that can be applied to a wide range of electronic devices. Our patented invention continues to be one of the world's leading air filter systems for computers, printers and other electronics. This is one of our best sellers and it has been sold to thousands of households and companies.

During our marriage as a family we had the very sad experience of watching a branch of in-laws die from diabetes. This branch of our family suffered slow and agonizing deaths with failing kidneys, blindness, amputations, etc.. When my brother-in-law and mother-in-law came down with diabetes their health deteriorated very rapidly. My brother-in-law could no longer work and was dying from the disease. He tried an herbal remedy that came from Southern Mexico and after a few weeks had a full and complete recovery. My mother-in-law tried it and also recovered quite rapidly. Her doctor asked what she had done to make her blood sugar drop so rapidly to normal levels of health. She replied that it was the tea and her doctor recommended she should continue the treatment. I was deeply impressed by the recovery of these two in-laws that I asked Jesus, my brother-in-law, to get me box of the tea. Once I had the box I researched and found the company that produces the tea. This was our third Internet item to feature and is "bar none" the best thing there is for a natural method to lower blood sugar.
